The Australian Automatic Motoring Party (AAMP) was formed out of sheer laziness in 1973 by Fred Wyllis, who became the party's first leader. The basic ideals of the party are:

  • Manual vehicles are stupid, primitive and therefore pointless.
  • Everyone should drive an automatic vehicle.
  • No Kombi vans. Also, Jane Fonda must wear a hat at all times.

[edit] History

The party has not achieved any acclaim with voters and has never made it within 500 metres of Parliament House. The closest the party ever got to winning a seat in the senate was on May 11, 1979, when then Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser's car refused to start. The leader of the AAMP at the time, Al DuPont, helped Fraser fix the car. DuPont then stole Fraser's car after Fraser made a pass at DuPont's toupee`. Police tracked DuPont down later that day. He was released from custody, but only after he had disgraced his party. In recent times, the party has had major success with derrelects and rowdy teens who are eager to swipe free political bumper stickers and badges.
