The Bad Dudes are the stars of the 1987-1998 soap opera Bad Dudes, Loving Families. The two edgy vigilante fighters settle down from their gritty adventures but soon find out that not only has Ronald Reagan been kidnapped by ninjas, but Blade has been diagnosed with cancer and Stryker's rampant alcoholism is causing damage to his relationship with his family. The two find comfort in each other and learn to dream again. The show ended on a high note with a personal appearance by Ronald Reagan where he congratulates the Bad Dudes and then steals Dragon Ninja's soul and takes it back to his dwelling place, Hell.

In 1991, a special two-hour crossover episode of Bad Dudes, Loving Families was created where the characters from Passions were heavily featured. Stryker, on a routine police raid, discovers the witch and her midget being forced to perform in hardcore pornography and decides to take them home and give them a proper meal.

The midget proceeds to become Stryker's partner at the bureau, and helps him capture a top ninja agent at a shopping mall. The witch helps Blade recover from cancer with the use of black magic, and Blade's rich white son with drug problems looks up to her as role-model, quits drugs, and becomes a celebrated goth.

The episode ended with a dramatic scene involving the discovery that the hospital staff are actually Arab terrorists. Stryker and the midget appear and comically reveal their plot. Blade hits them with his IV rack whilst the midget ducks, causing them to trip head over heels and fall out the window. The witch and the midget leave active duty and return to Harmony, and Blade decides it's high time to "finish what they started", and so began the show's ninth season.

[edit] Critical Acclaim

Bad Dudes, Loving Families won the Daytime Emmy Awards 12 years in a row, almost causing Kenny Rogers to be assassinated by Family Feud host Louis Anderson and The Price Is Right host Bob Barker. Their plot was foiled when Kenny Rogers suddenly left the show to star in The Gambler XVIII, causing it to be hastily wrapped up and cancelled. If it had been carried out, the murder would've been bigger news than when the entire cast of As The World Turns were found stripped, horribly mutilated, and beaten in a New York subway, causing them to miss an entire day of filming.

[edit] Cast

Schwarzenegger plays his role with epic style.

  • Blade -- Blade was originally played by Michael Jackson, but was then played by Gary Busey for the remainder of the show upon the realization that Michael Jackson was African-American and not truly capable of convincingly playing a caucasian, though upon reviewing the episodes Jackson seems to give it a fair shake, even going as far as to get horrific plastic surgery done on himself to help achieve a semblance of realism.
  • Stryker -- Stryker was played by Kenny Rogers, due to his real-life experiences with alcoholism and ninjas.
  • Secret Service Agent -- played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the scene where he informs the Bad Dudes of their impending doom is a real tearjerker, especially when he slaps them for crying.
  • Karnov -- Karnov is played by Chris Farley at the top of his comedic flair; basically Farley borrowed his El Nino pants off of the SNL set, painted a goatee on his face, and pretty much just played the part by ear.
  • Dragon Ninja -- Dragon Ninja was played by Jackie Chan.
  • Ronald Reagan -- played by himself. His stunt-double was Belial.
