Dr. Lincoln Von Fungi (born March 4, 1900 in the Mushroom Kingdom) is a renowned scientist, inventor, economist, and politician. He is known for his massive intellect, sometimes abrasive personality, and aversion to prune juice.

Like nearly all Mushroom Kingdom peoples, he was spawned out of radioactive goo that came from pipes in Brooklyn. It seems his plant was exposed to a large amount of the goo, leading to a massive increase in his intellect.
He became influential during the early period of the Mushroom Kingdom, notably being from the red mushroom clan. This clan is distinctive for propensity for growth as opposed to usefulness. This natural urge will have broad implications for Von Fungi's life later on.
Once the Mushroom Kingdom was officially created in 1981, he quickly rose to the important position as aide to Princess Peach(Princess Toadstool) . It is generally recognized that Von Fungi and Princess Peach are quite close, but there has been no proof of any sort of phyiscal relationship between them.
Von Fungi became elected chair of the Mushroom Council in 1989 and has served that post every year since. The Council has supreme authority over all decisions made within the Mushroom Kingdom, though it should be noted that Princess Peach holds veto power over any measure she deems unfit. This has only occurred twice.

Von Fungi is responsible for the vast public transportation system that connects the Mushroom Kingdom with itself. Once the Mushroom Kingdom was created in 1981 he proposed a complex series of pipes that would carry citizens to their destinations and also hold large reserves of gold coins. Mario would later capitalize on this knowledge by becoming head of the Royal Mushroom Bank.
Furthermore, Von Fungi became internationally famous for his cloning of the ancient yoshi. By taking an egg and performing intensive analysis and DNA testing on it, he was able to create a fully functional yoshi from scratch. Yet this led to the Yoshi's Park disaster that put a black mark on his career.
In March of 1945, during top secret experiments funded by the governemt for unknown purposes, Dr. Fungi discovered how to synthesize sweet and sour sauce. With it's medicinal uses as a powerful hallucinogen and it's utility as a major fuel source, his discovery quickly redeemed himself to the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Von Fungi has also contributed to various advances in military technology, most notably by creating the Hammer Brother Suit, Bullet Bill, and the BoBomb.

Von Fungi has been involved in many scandals as result of his immense power and influence in the Mushroom Kingdom. He has been accused, most notably by Mario, of exerting extreme influence over the political and economic order of the kingdom. Several thousands of gold coins have gone unaccounted for during his reign.
The public transportation system has come under extreme scrutiny in recent years due to the construction of Pipe World as one of sectors of the Mushroom Kingdom. This confusing system of pipes was supposed to be the transportation hub of the kingdom, connecting national and international travel. Instead, a mess of pipes bringing unsuspecting travellers to either their original spot or somewhere completely dangerous has been the result.
Furthermore, the Yoshi's Park incident seriously damaged his credability as a scientist, where two members of the Mushroom Kingdom Investigative Team were killed when the power shut down all the security features of the park.
Finally, rumors of secret weapons deals between Von Fungi and Bowser have been spreading throughout the realm, where many caches of Bob-ombs and Bullet Bills have gone missing under his watch. He has angrily denied any sort of charges, stating: "Ver vill be no chargez of vis kind. I am innovent of all chargez."
