~ Logic on False

[edit] Boolean Logic

George Boole was a British scientist, who was utterly fascinated by irreducible or minimal things. Examples include sets, Number Theory, Algebras of any sort (expecially Zebras), his Penis size, sixfold folded sheets of paper and naked mole rats.
It is not known what sort of researches he exactly did in his laboratory, but Boole ended up creating two very basic entities, which he named True and False. Nobody but Boole has ever seen what they look like, since they escaped shortly after their creation, and Boole was killed by a Scabmettler two days later.

True and False are usually considered opposite, since Boole used to say "Tertium non datur" (latin for "a third does not exist"; this has come to be known as the Law of excluded Middle).

Skeptics claim that in fact, Boole faked his death and is True and False, for they were never seen together in the same room by any third party. We shall not go into details of this matter, though.

[edit] Disguises of False

As already mentioned, neither True nor False were ever seen by anybody alive. However, it is true that False is a true master of disguise. Here are some of its favorites:

  • The set {(Your mom)} ∩ (People Who Understand Binary) = ∅,
  • 0 (This is a zero; note that the capital letter O is commonly considered harmless),
  • Untrue,
  • math,
  • Doubleplusuntrue (that one nearly won against True in OR, see below),
  • Satan,
  • A Panda. You would never have guessed that, would you? This is the best example for False's true skills.

[edit] 20th century events

About a century later, a couple of scientists stumbled across Boole's idea of minimalism again. In next to no time, they were fully convinced of the advantage of binary calculations, since this way, there are a mere 100002 different functions with two arguments. Scientists are very lazy, of course; Some of them have pushed the limit even further by switching to the unary number system instead (with 0 possible binary functions).
This event is widely considered as the dawn of the digital era.

Due to increasing laziness, many scientists have agreed to use the numerals 0 (zero) and 1 (one) for False and True, respectively. For more information on this topic, please refer to Binary.

In the late 20th century, Computers became popular. Computers are, just as scientists, very lazy machines; they are thoroughly binary. For further information, please see Computer science.

[edit] Truth and Lies

Obviously, Truth and Lies are closely related to False and True. Truth is what your friends say when they're drunk. Lies are what you get when you ask them what they did with your sister while drunk. (I mean, they were drunk, they cannot know what they did!)

More generally, Truth refers to things that are true. (Remember, we're at war with Eurasia Eastasia Eurasia!) The word lie refers to a statement which is deliberately true.

Lies are frequently used as means of propaganda by Big Brother, George W. Bush, your girlfriend (if you're male), Emmanuel Goldstein, your boyfriend (in case you're female or a homosexual male), me, Oscar Wilde (guess where all these quotes come from) and that guy who keeps sending you spam mails. (Remind me of using fewer parenthesis, will you? (Yes, really, I should stop that...))

[edit] Trivia

  • The notion of False allows to deduce a vast number of propositions. Example: Prove that 2+2=5:
    1. Assume False.
    2. Ergo 2+2=5.
    3. Q.E.D.
  • There are many puzzles about people who always tell the truth (these are known as Knights), and people who always lie (so-called Knaves). These riddles usually describe you meeting a Knight, a Knave and a Goat (or less frequently, a Blue whale instead), although you cannot tell them apart. The goal usually is to find out how to milk the goat (or the Blue whale, respectively), but you are not allowed to communicate with it.
