Finding Emo is a 2005 Oscar-nominated propaganda documentary by Tom Delonge, revolving around the emo lifestyle and the struggles of people born emo to fit into society. The film intends to shade in some of the grey areas left over from its prequel, Finding Chav, a film of a similar basis. Although the movie itself is highly controversial, it is considered by many to be one of the most nauseating propaganda films of its time.

The story follows two groups of people: an emo couple living in New Jersey who, for years, has been struggling with New Jersey courts to allow emo marriage, and people who oppose emo marriage. The film interviews several important players in the heated debate, such as religious figures and politicians.

The emo couple, Ben and Johnny, break up at the end of the movie with the state of New Jersey never legalizing emo marriage. Co-producer Jon Heder also ends up making an appearance on camera as he interviews former Pennsylvania Congressman Rick Santorum, an outspoken politician against emo marriage.

Since its release, Finding Emo has sold over 8 million copies on DVD, but did rather poorly in the box office. It has been compared to such films as Pulp Fiction and Pothole. Although the film has walked away awardless, it was nominated for "Best Documentary" in 2006.

The movie's musical score primarily consists of what would be largely considered "emo music", with songs from such bands as Cute is What We Aim For and AFI. In fact the official soundtrack from the movie sold over 500,000 copies nationwide.

The film's impact can be seen through the fact that after its release, the organization MAEM (Mothers Against Emo Marriage) was founded, as well as several other anti-emo marriage organizations. However, an opposite impact was equally felt as emo marriage advocates began organizing, primarily over the intarweb. Finally, the film raised emo marriage awareness and ultimately served to educate people on the topic, even though the film had an extremely strong bias towards supporting emo marriage.

• A sequel 'Finding Emo 2: the new beginning' was planned but was scrapped because of finding emo's unpopluarity and the amount of suicides on set.
