Flavour

Flavour is in all food substances. It is a necessary component of all foods, as one needs flavour to distinguish a, say, shark egg from turtle wax. Should one come across a potential food substance, the best and easiest way to tell what it is, is to stick it in one's mouth and roll it over one's tongue. The tongue and taste buds were developed specifically for the task.

Some foods are high in flavour content and, as a consequence, are also high in nutritional value. In 97% of foods, there is an almost linear correlation between the amount of flavour a food has and the feeling of fullness one receives from eating it. Conversely, the less flavour a food has, the less full it makes one feel and one can barely derive nutrition from it, regardless of the amount consumed.

There is to debate as to whether water has flavour, and as such does not count as part of a nutricious diet. The only water known to have flavour is not in fact water. It is, as was suspected, transparent cordial.

[edit] History

A full, in-depth study of food substances and their associated flavours was begun back in 1556 by the Society of Interested Persons as a part of their "Get To Know Your World" directive. Encompassing many different cultures from many different parts of the world, the study has continued until this very second at which people realised they had never even conducted such tests. Many food substances worldwide were found to not have particularly strong flavours and the cultures producing them were noted to be sickly and weak.

The society is always looking for more researchers to scour the world looking for different types of foods. Would-be researchers are advised that the countries producing the most flavourful foods have already been filled with tenured researchers who would rather die than give up their coveted positions. Many in fact do die from heart attacks and other over indulgant afflictions. Ironically, a fair number also die from starvation, as their lavish eating habits have made them grossly overweight to the point where they simply can't move any more.
