Foster's Bloo's Home for Imaginary Friends is a popular show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block that takes place in some alternate universe where imaginary friends come into physical being once they are imagined by their lonely, reclusive creators. The show's title seems to be derived from the fact that it revolves around a house owned by a senile 105 year old woman named Madame Foster and her granddaughter Frankie, who takes care of her. They take in imaginary friends who are no longer needed by their creators, due to the fact that they have grown up enough to make themselves a Myspace account and find themselves some real friends. The show also stars a kid named Mac and his imaginary friend Bloo, who both seem to live in Madame Foster's house. However, it is only Bloo who lives there.

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends uses the "Monster of the Week" technique in that each episode is most likely to involve some "Guest" imaginary friend who usually appears only in one episode. On rare occasions, if a guest character becomes popular, he/she/it may appear in an upcoming episode. It is a well known fact that Conan O'Brien has used this technique many times.

Mac is seemingly the main character of the show, as he has appeared in every episode except for episode 17: Mac is Missing where he is kidnapped by an imaginary Grue named Karl. Mac is also responsible for the creation of Bloo, his imaginary friend.
[edit] Bloo
Blooregard "Bloo" Q. Kazoo is a short, blue, phallic imaginary friend created by Mac. He is the show's comic relief. Like Mac, Bloo has appeared in most episodes in the series except for episode 32: Bloo Man Group in which he is kidnapped by the Blue Man Group who make a guest appearance in the show. Bloo is well known for his stupidity and get rich quick schemes, especially in episode 24: Bloo Hacks Ebay in which Bloo hacks into Ebay and transfers their money into his bank account.

Terrance is Mac's abusive older brother. He has a mullet style haircut, which may imply that he's a closet homosexual.
[edit] Madame Foster
Madame Foster is a senile 105 year old woman and owner of Foster's, AKA her house that takes in "abandoned" imaginary friends. She too has an imaginary friend, a pompus, bossy old rabbit named Mr. Herriman who has a severe addiction to carrots dipped in crack cocaine.
[edit] Mr. Herriman
Mr. Herriman is a pompous imaginary friend who looks like a rabbit badger and speaks with a British accent. Herriman's accent may be the result of his creation being during Madame Foster's trip to Great Britain when she was 4. He is known for his addictions to carrots dipped in crack cocaine. In the episode Wacky Crack Herriman finds a large amount of crack, and as a subplot, while Bloo attempts to make fake legal tender, Herriman is snuffing, and ends up dead in a dumpster at the end. Bloo finishes the episode with this line "Wow! Someone is down in the dumpster....Herriman??"

Frankie is Madame Foster's granddaughter. It is her job to take care of the imaginary friends, as well as her senile grandmother who has been known to hallucinate. After getting an advanced degree in child psychology, she got a job at her grandmother's place. She is very punk rock, according to Kurt Cobain.

Goo is a girl with an over active imagination and addiction to coffee and kittens. She is responsible for creating 1/3 of the imaginary friends who live in Madame Foster's house. Her biggest regret was accidentally creating Mecha Hitler, an imaginary friend who resembled a cyborg version of Hitler, while writing a report on Nazi Germany in episode 18: Three Reichs, You're Out!.

Coco is a bizzare imaginary friend who resembles some kind of mutant bird. She was created by accident by 2 nerds who at the time were debating something on Myspace. Coco has been known to lay eggs at random times, resulting in hundreds of children in episode 7: Bad Eggs.

Eduardo is a large, hairy, behemoth-like imaginary friend with a Mexican accent and 2 large horns on his head. He was mistaken for a demon by the catholic church in episode 12: Eduardo vs. The Vatican.

Wilt is a tall, red imaginary friend with an arm and a half, and one working eye. His other eye was lost (and then replaced) in the tragic "My Creator Stabbed Me In The Eye Incident of 1992". He is known for being the world's greatest non-human basketball player. He was created by Michael Jordan. In episode 40: Wilt: God of Basketballism, Wilt is regarded as a god among basketball players.

Cheese was an imaginary friend created by someone mentally retarded. He fears fat chicks and Micheal Jackson. He is rumored to be attempting to kick the shit out of Herriman, steal his crack, and take over Fosters. He keeps two teddy bears, one called "Timmy" the other called "Timmy". Cheese used to be a criminal, stealing millions worth of toy horses but he has done his time and is now annoying people other than his cellmates (They had no chocolate milk in prison).

[edit] Imaginary Oscar Wilde
An imaginary friend who is a doppelgänger of the real Oscar Wilde, believes himself to be the real thing. He was created by a bored kid who was reading one of Oscar Wilde's books. Imaginary Oscar Wilde appeared in episode 5: Quote This! where he annoys Bloo by forcing Bloo to listen to a complete list of his quotes on tape.
[edit] Killgore the Clown
Killgore is an imaginary homicidal clown created by John Wayne Gacy shortly before he was arrested. Killgore appears in episode 37: Fear the Clown where he repeatedly tried to kill Mr. Herriman for calling him unfunny.
[edit] Space Ghost
Guest starred in episode 17: Natural Gas Gives Me Some Ideas, in which he is discovered to have an unhealthy addiction to sucking all of the gas pipes in the house. The house then implodes into itself, forcing its residents to go outside and do the show in the woods with an obviously stoned Busta Rhymes.
[edit] Imaginary Xenu
Imaginary Xenu was created by a scientologist named Com Truise (a parody of Tom Cruise) to help him convert people to Scientology. Imaginary Xenu looks exactly like the real thing. He and his creator appeared in episode 10: Wacko and Alien where they convince Eduardo to become the new mascot of Scientology.

Mecha-Hitler is an imaginary friend who was accidentally created by Goo in episode 18: Three Reichs, You're Out! while writing a report on Nazi Germany. In the same episode, Mecha-Hitler begins turning everyone in the house into a robot to be his army- except for Goo, Mac, and Bloo.

Evil Frankie was created by a perverted kid who wanted Frankie to obey his every whim. His plan backfired, however, and she came out as an evil version of Frankie. When she was sent to Foster's, Bloo tried to use her, but failed too. She nearly succeeded in taking over Foster's, but was killed by the real Frankie in the end.

Tried to apply for a job at Foster's in Episode 88: Das Bloo, but gets his ass kicked by the entire house because he's mistaken for Kevin Federline.
[edit] Hitler Controversy
Episode 18: Three Reichs, You're Out! became the victim of a lot of controversy from various christian groups, as well as the Vatican for the episode's mention of Hitler and the fact that that one of the main characters in the episode was some incarnation, despite the fact that Mecha-Hitler was mearly a caricature of the dictator. The main group that was outraged by the episode was P.A.H.O.T. (Parents Against Hitler On Television) who made very clear that they did not want their teenagers who watch Adult Swim see a man as evil as Hitler in any shape or form on television. As a result of the controversy, the episode was banned from television. However, bootleg versions of the episode can still be found on Youtube.
