A Googolplex is a simply mind-bogglingly large number, defined in any of the following ways:
1. 10^10^100
2. 10^googol
3. A few less than the number of Australian backpackers working in the bars of South East Asia.

[edit] Just how big IS a Googolplex?
Since a googolplex is one followed by a googol zeroes, it would not be possible to write down or store a googolplex in decimal notation, even if all the matter in the known universe were converted into paper and ink or disk drives. This is not, therefore, a very useful number.
Steven Hawking claims to be able to count to a Googolplex, but we know he lies. How can we even be sure that's him talking? It could just be his computer thing! A computer programmer has written a piece of C++ code to print out a googleplex however in addition to the ink and paper shortages noted above, this programme would take over five hundred years to run, even when factoring in the improved electricity scientists expect to invent in the future. This proves that even if it is Steven Hawkings computer making these claims, it is lying too.
It has been postulated that the sum of all the world's odd socks, or their partners which mysteriously disappeared in the laundry, could potentially reach a googolplex. It has been separately postulated that these socks are the source of so-called Dark Matter and Dark energy, and therefore it is best not dabbled with.
Although few people realize it, chipmunks can utter a googolplex sounds per minute, making them the fastest communicators in the known universe. Too bad they only brag about how fast they can speak...

The American mathematician Edward Kasner once asked his nine-year-old nephew (We'll call him Rupert, because his real name was Felicity) to invent a name for a very large number, ten to the power of one hundred; and the boy called it a Googol. He thought this was pretty cool, and seeing as how Google hadn't been invented yet, so did Edward.
Another mathematician then ruined the nine-year-old's whole day, by immediately coming back with "Googolplex", which he defined to be 10 to the power of Googol. At one fell stroke he had both stolen little Rupert's idea, made a mockery of it, and invented something much bigger and better! Oh, the humiliation! Being trumped like this at such an early age had a terrible effect on Rupert, and pretty much ruined his life. He lost the little confidence he had, and eventually died at 55 years old, still a virgin.

No, I have just defined the Dilip as two more than any number you can think of. A Dilip is now the biggest number. And don't try and define your own number as bigger than mine, because a Dilip is already defined as 9999999999999 X bigger then any other number ever according to Dilips law of theoretical space.

The fictitious town of Springfield, popularised in satanist cartoon The Simpsons, has been portrayed in several episodes as having a large, multiscreen cinema called the Googolplex. Can you see what they've done there? They're combining Googol, as in Googley eyes, or goggles, with the "Plex" (meaning divided into a specific number of parts) like in Multiplex and so on, to make Googolplex. You see? It's a joke?, ....... Okay, who put the question mark there?
You can see from the pictures that the Springfield Googolplex appears to have had a facelift at some point.
