Handheld PC

“Wghast isd thisd inmtriughing debvice?”
~ Oscar Wilde on using a pocket PC with a freakin' small keyboard
The first "computers" ever to be built were much larger and much, much more efficient than the PCs of today. Sure, you had to keep changing the tubes, and sometimes the rats would fall off the wheels or get tired, but other than that they were self efficient.
Of course, today, China is overpopulating the world and everyone needs things to be smaller, so that's where the handheld PC comes to life.
Boasting small battery life, limited screen resolution, no CD/DVD capabilities, and mediocre sound quality (if any), the pocket PCs were a tremendous hit because people could, possibly, fit them into their pockets, where dust and pocket lint would, not, gather onto the device.
[edit] Future
The way technology is headed, there will be no need to downgrade to even smaller, less reliable hardware when computers and WIFI can be built into people. The only conflicts are involving energy consumption and FCC interferences, resulting in interceptions of personal messages and possible mindreading. Law enforcement will take a new step by introducing computer hacking tools to disengage once otherwise internal organs.
