Striking. That's a myth though, about the size thing. Right?

~ Oscar Wilde on the iPod Huge™

[edit] History

Dr. West.
Dr. West.
The iPod Huge™ was created by Dr. James E. West with two main goals in mind. First, to outdo the humanitarian achievements of his brother Adam in the biggest way possible. Second, to create a lasting tribute to his heritage, whether anyone remembers it or not.

The inspiration for (and subsequent construction of) the iPod Huge™ began in 1968, after one of Dr. West's dearest friends was shot and killed while standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis. Plans called for the structure to be 452 feet high, and to have a vibrantly colored screen.

The iPod Huge encountered several problems in the process of its construction. Although nobody questioned the size of the unit itself, several questions arose about the screen. For instance, would a coloured screen really be that much bigger than the other screens that controlled the iPod market for so many years? After various comparisons between Dr. West and several Apple executives, no further argument was made, and construction proceeded as planned.

iRonic? Maybe.
iRonic? Maybe.

Construction was completed in 1999 as Dr. West’s crowning achievement. It was given a prominent place in the New York City skyline, as soon as space was cleared for its occupation. When asked about the color of the casing, Dr. West simply smacked his forehead and refused to comment.

[edit] Visiting

The iPod Huge™ remains a vital part of the city to this day, where residents and visitors alike are able to enjoy its beauty. It's frequently hailed as the easiest to find landmark in the city, and directions are often given using the 'Pod (a snazzy local nickname) as reference.

Note: Due to its elegant and delicate internal structure, as well as relatively high voltage, the inside of the iPod Huge™ is currently closed off to visitors, although a detailed video tour of the interior is available for you to experience when visiting.
