[edit] Summary
This is a much better version and replacement for Image:Japanese_characters.jpg. This was created using six free software tools: The GIMP was used to convert the original into a black and white PNG. Kolourpaint was used for touching up the PNG. Autotrace converted the PNG into a Postscript. Xfig converted that Postscript into a FIG. Skencil converted that image into an SVG. Inkscape was used to touch up the final image.
