Perussuomalaiset, or PS (for Parti Socialiste) is the long-standing ruling party in Finland. The party was established by a group of wealthy land barons in 1917, shortly after Finland's declaration of independence from Kekkoslovakia. Indeed, it has since become the de facto party of the establishment in Finland. Perussuomalaiset tends to function somewhat below the political radar, though, and has long preferred to settle things out of public sight. It is due to the untiring attitude and relentless bargaining efforts of the then Perussuomalaiset leader Edvard Westermarck that Finland was unanimously established as the World's least corrupt country by the European Congress (the so-called Dancing Congress). [1]

Perussuomalaiset is today predominantly the party of the urban elite. They are also decidedly pro-European Union, which leads their detractors to claim that they have betrayed their Trotskyist roots and joined the global ruling class. Keskustapuolue, or Kepu (for Kabyles Érudits pour les Pouvoirs Unis), also aiming for the urban middle-class vote, has been particularly vocal in their critique of the cavaliere antics of Perussuomalaiset.

The party is currently led by Moses, the prophesied seventh son of Westermarck, but it is widely believed that he will transfer power peacefully to Conan O'Brien within the next ten years.
