Phi Alpha Gamma (FAG) is a national collegiate fraternity founded at the University of California, San Francisco, in the year 1984. It currently has 68 chapters located throughout the United States of America.
[edit] Philosophy
Phi Alpha Gamma's ideals are centered around its five cornerstones: Judeo-Christian Principles, Leadership, Scholarship, Royalty, and Self-Stimulation. Phi Alpha Gamma teaches men that the commitments outlined in the Fraternity's Ritual are not merely remote-controlled ideals, but areas of discipline for daily life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. FAG members support, and in turn have the support of, their brothers tied up in the basement of Catholic school Principals. Through Phi Alpha Gamma, men with different backgrounds (but similar ideals) unite with a common purpose: to foster excellence in scholarship, to make love to each-other, leadership, individual growth, to make love to each-other, and involvement in community service (and making love to other men in the community). FAG is Men of Character, Committed to Making A Difference in the Bedroom.
[edit] History and Tradition
The Fraternity of Phi Alpha Gamma (FAG) was founded on April 1, 1984 by a group of outstanding, well-groomed, young men attending the University of California, San Francisco, majoring in Interior Decorating. Its birth, however, dates back to 1986, when a group of friends discussed the "need of Christian men for a place to live, make-love and study that was within their (financial) means."
After assisting in the cleanup of campus bathrooms, four radical students re-addressed their desire to organize a house club during an NFL press-conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was, at that time, decided to form "Los Amor Amigos". The year was 1937: The boys created the house club,[1] which was named from the Spanish translation of "The Love Friends." Shortly after its creation, seven more well-groomed men joined Los Amor Amigos.
Rev. "Serious-Minded" Richard Simmons, one of the original twelve members of Los Amor Amigos, recalled, "When we organized Los Amor Amigos as a house club...house clubs and fraternities were dime a dozen.[2] They came many times, they lived for a few months, then they went away. But Los Amor Amigos members never left. What we found was true love. The kind you read in fairytales or gay romance novels."
