Seal clubbing is the oft-misunderstood pastime of many of the world's population of seals, though one rarely pursued with such rigour as by that of the Canadian Grey Seal. Criticised by the press of the world, and most veraciously by the Canadian print press, victims practitioners of seal clubbing have been accused of being "hedonistic", "decadent" and "fat, lazy fish-guzzlers".
[edit] History of Seal Clubbing
[edit] Origins
Begun in Fitzgerald's "Jazz Age" as a reaction to dwindling living standards and the popularity of jazz, the beginnings of seal clubbing were marked with as much controversy as the activity's later evolutions. While originally seal clubbing was only practised in a few select bars of North America, soon every dance hall and smoky jazz basement was full of swinging seals.
Changes in seal clubbing largely matched the evolution of jazz for the next couple of decades, the major change came in the late 1950s and early 60s when seal clubbing began to embrace rock 'n' roll.
