Stannahstan

The Slaminthelambic People's Republic of Stannahstan (not to be confused with Stanistan) is a central Asian country which is precisely the same size and shape as Tajikistan and Stanistan, but exists two miles beneath the latter. The subterranean country was once part of the vast entity that was the Soviet Unicorn, but following the fall of Berlin Mall in 2089 Stannahstan declared independence under the leadership of President Thora Hird, inventor of the stairlift.

The first Stannahstani is believed to have been called Alan, and his bones were found underneath a rock in 1348. Carbon dating has shown that he actually existed before the creation of Earth and so did his passport, which was found in his skeletal hand.

The history of Stannastan has been the subject of much scrutiny by historians over the years who cannot agree about what happened and when. When this situation has been resolved a Grand Gathering of Historians is due to take place in Geneva to let everybody know. Including the Stannahstani people. What is agreed though, is that in 1920 a big party took place to celebrate the 100th birthday of President Hird and that everybody had quite a nice time.

Due to their subterreannean lifestyle, the inhabitants of Stannastan have to use vast stairlifts to reach the surface, however the Law of Diminishing Returns states that they can only do this one less time than they did previously. The stairlifts were constructed by President Hird, during her Great Leap Upward phase. Until the the Penguin Army of Doom Showed up and ate them. Therefore the Grand Gathering of Histroies is completly stupid because there are no Stannahstanians.

Vast beasts exist on the plains of Stannahstan, which were all created by the master animator Ray Harryhausen. The most dangerous of these is the multi-clawed Tentacloctopus.

The economy of Stannahstan was sold to North Korea] in 1881. And despite great efforts by President Hird the Third, the grandaughter of the first president they have been unable to buy it back. President Hird the Third even offered her full My Little Pony sticker album to Kim Jong Ill in the hope of getting the economy back, but he was having none of it.

The currency of Stannahstan is the Royal Mint Imperial.
