[edit] The Show Theme Song
The theme song played at the beginning, end, and at various times in the show, generally at intervals of 17 minutes. The words for the first 42 seasons were as follows.*
Super Confetti Magic Man and his Futuristic Rocket From Space!
Riding Around Fighting Alien Pirates! Punching Bad Guys in the Face!
Super Confetti Magic Man and his Futuristic Rocket From Space!
Ridin' Around on his Blue Tyrannosaurus, Saving the Whole Human Race!
Super Confetti Magic Man and his Futuristic Rocket From Space!
Eating Eighteen Deep-Fried Bazookas, Wielding a Square Orange Mace!
The lyrics were accompanied by an octet of rock guitars, which went into individual solos afterwards.
- In the episode Hyper Jet Ninja Fighters of the Planet Bibetonia the word "Pirates" was changed to "Ninjas". It is generally agreed that this was intentional and referred to the prescence of ninjas in the episode, although it is interesting to note that the original lyrics played at the end of the episode.
In season 43 the opening sequence was completely silent and portrayed through interpretive dance, much to the delight of fans.
[edit] The Characters
Super Confetti Magic Man - The title character. He wore a yellow shirt with many colored spots, which were carefully placed in the exact same spot each episode. He sported a bluish-purplish-greenish-yellowish pair of jeans and wore sandals. His right hand was a platinum hook and his left was detachable. His head was blood-red and bullet shaped, although his only other visible skin (his feet) were yellow. This varied coloration was never explained. He had a reedy, warbling voice and his personality is best described as "quadri-polar".
Proximo - Super Confetti Magic Man's faithful pet and friend. Proximo was a blue tyrannosaurus who communicated through pantomime and writing things with bullets. He served as transportation, company, and a weapon for Super Confetti Magic Man. Proximo was present in every episode except for The Grandiose Search for Proximo in the Hotdog Nebula Part I and Proximo's Big Date!. In the final episode Proximo finally spoke, saying the now famous quote "Don't blame me...I'm just a matress."
Nearly no other characters remained in the show for more than 3 episodes, with the record being held by Publo, a zebra with a taco for a head who lasted 14 episodes before being banished to the fifth dimension in The Mysterious Mystery of Oscar Wilde's Chamber of Mystery
[edit] General Formula
Each show followed a similar formula, which goes as follows:
- Super Confetti Magic Man would receive a call on the 'Fetti Phone from some distant destination (although in Eat Eat Eat! he just walked next door) asking him for help.
- Super Confetti Magic Man would whistle for Proximo and they would both board the Futuristic Rocket From Space.
- A short clip of Super Confetti Magic Man and Proximo apparently drinking Tequila on the Rocket was shown.
- In a burst of confetti Super Confetti Magic Man would arrive at his destination and proceed to help the residents.
- Everyone would learn a valuable life lesson which they will completely forget by the next episode.
[edit] Recurring Gags
Each time Super Confetti Magic Man was present a sheet of confetti would appear, often obscuring the view of the show.
Proximo's exasperated attempts to get Super Confetti Magic Man to understand his simple pantomime.
Each episode the Futuristic Rocket From Space would have a different color scheme, although Season 4 Episode 57 and Season 38 Episode 9 both had a magenta-turqoise-orange-black theme.
[edit] The Finale
In the explosive, award-winning finale of the show, Super Confetti Magic Man and Proximo finally reach Hitler's obsidian fortress at the south pole after an 18 episode build-up. In the three-hour episode Super Confetti Magic Man battles Hitler through 167 alternate universes. In the final fifteen minutes Hitler has taken Proximo, Ultra-Proximo, and Emerald Proximo hostage, as well as holding the 19 Golden Frisbees that will open the gates of Hell. It is at this time that the three Proximos combine into Restrimo and use Hyber-Combo-Pardigm-Crash Level XI (sic) to destroy all 19 Frisbees. As a black whirlpool of anti-matter sucks Hitler and Restrimo in, Restrimo converts briefly back to Proximo and says his one and only line. Super Confetti Magic Man explodes in a burst of confetti and when this clears he has become a solid form of color. Screaming, he leaps into the hole after Proximo and disappears.
[edit] The Toys
A line of action figures were created on the show's 40th anniversary, but sold poorly due to shoddy construction. Intact figures are currently selling for around $49,700 in auctions around the world.
