Wanting to build morale at the home front, the American public was informed that allied troops defeated Rommel's army. However, the truth has emerged. One of Rommel's panzers ran over a large nest of camel spiders, disturbing their peaceful slumber. Enraged, the critters burst forth and attacked every thing in site; tanks, trucks, artillery and soldiers.

Tank treads were torn off, immobilizing those engines of destruction. Troops afoot had no chance, they were soon camel spider dinner. Possessing enormous amounts of patience, the spiders waited for the tank jockeys to be forced out by the heat where they joined their brethern in the bellys of the beasts.

Full, sated, the camel spiders went back underground to digest their huge meal. When the allied troops pranced in all that was left was shattered equipment and a few blood stains upon the sand. Taking claim for the destruction of the Nazi horde the propaganda value was great and assisted in the ultimate allied victory in World War 2.
