[edit] New rules

  1. No explicit references to specific persons. If I can figure out who you're talking about, it's too specific. For example: names, pseudonyms, epithets, etc. If it's some inside joke and you talk about "someone who..." and you all know who it's talking about, sweet, great. But nothing specific.
  2. No unregistered users. Please take the opportunity now to login. The anonymity afforded by the school IP is too great for incriminating edits. We won't lock the article to IPs, but any IP edits will be reverted.

This is the best vanity page I've seen yet, but juvenile attacks on each other is not what Uncyc is about. Thank you for following these rules (or you'll be banned, most likely). --KATIE!! 02:21, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, there are a few inside jokes and occurences of personal information that still require editing, however. Thanks for your help in removing the lines that may have violated uncyclopedia rules from our article, though, will we be able to continue editing the page soon? Sorry to bother you. --Mafuyu 09:15, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Not a bother, I'll unprotect it now. I just wanted a compelling reason for everyone to look at the talk page. :] --KATIE!! 18:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

In hopes that those who have edited will actually read this page: Hitler, the Holocaust, Mao Zedong and Communism aren't funny topics. It's not about the insensitivity, it's just horribly unfunny. It's passe to label Hwa Chong as a school of commies, and plain stupid to use Nazism instead. Now stop the idiocy. Aeolius 13:49, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

It just doesn't strike me as too funny to continue with this whole thing about how the students are skilled fighters and blow up stuff. I mean, having a robot underground is still pretty cool, but putting a bunch of militants everywhere is just kinda boring, and almost exactly like how other Singaporean schools have built their page. The fact that its repeated almost everywhere also really stretches a tired joke. Then again, i could be wrong, and just be missing the humour by a country mile. --Mafuyu 10:43, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Yo Dribdrab, if you've actually read the discussion page (which you probably have, judging from your blatant plagiarism from here onto the Raffles Institution discussion page [because you thought I was from RI? Which I'm not]), why not tell us why you think your content is funny. If you satisfy us, then we'll stop the edit war. Aeolius 11:44, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

To Aeolius: you're not from RI? sorry, then. anyway, here's why i started editing. i'm sorry for the blatent deletions and stuff - i last viewed this page a long time ago when it was still mao-themed and i found it pretty funny. I'm not saying it's lousy now, but Mafuyu put it right - every school's page is roughly similar. Each page on its own is pretty funny, but when you have tons of pages all about the same thing it just becomes dry. I was pretty upset at the page turning into another so-called clone of the other schools' pages, so i kinda lost my head :\ perhaps what we need is less internal edit wars and more inter-page cooperation. I'm not too sure about the passe part though - is it passe to label Hitler as a Jew-hater? it's part of your history, something to be proud of. Isn't comedy about blowing up certain aspects of human nature and laughing at them? Poking fun at the history of HCI is a little funny, albeit disrespectful :D That said, i can't imagine that a page with Mao and Commie sprinkled every 10 words would be funny - it would get boring too. But really, i do feel that a few allusions here and there are fine. After all, it's one of the things which makes HCI different from RI or NUSHS or... etcetc cheers

Well yeah. Every school's page was almost the same, which is why we tried to make this one stand out a bit more. Rambling on about nuclear technology and military organizations... its excessively boring, considering almost everything related to the Republic of Kingdom Lee or whatever keeps basing their pages around some kind of badly described war. Relating the school to communism doesn't help much either. Its a topic that, quite truthfully, hasn't stood the test of time at all. Ludicrousness, with a hint of random and a kiss of absurdity, when tethered to the anchor of reality makes for much more delightful humour. Plus it does provide interesting things to read for both people who are part of the school, and for strangers. Relating the school to communism is an injoke, if you think about it, that few outsiders would get, and, as a result, isn't really good material to use. It might be a bias towards non sequitor humour on my part, but it was nice of you to reply all the same.--Mafuyu 08:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if I've appeared harsh in my previous comments and the unseen section in the edit page. Mafuyu stumbled upon this page some weeks ago and it was badly mauled (in our opinion) by the incessant references to Mao Zedong and communism. We decided that we had to do something to salvage it, it being our school and all. The major overhaul may have seemed like taking things into our own hands, but we felt it necessary to start the page afresh. Besides, the picture of a pile of shit as our school logo doesn't exactly do our heritage justice, does it? RI and NUS high have anchored their pages in military and Nazism references, but that's their problem because they're just indulging in their own inside jokes. We've tried to stay true to the nature of Hwa Chong where necessary, eg the consortium names and the EP3s (we were really tempted to overhaul it as well) because going totally off track would be self-indulgence as well. But thanks for replying. PS: so what was the post on the RI discussion board for? Aeolius 08:26, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

well... nothing actually. just a childish act which is now reversed :) but anyway the ri page is full of racist and nazi jokes/references... and as a side note: Mafuyu i think i do know you, if that's what you put as your msn nick :P

btw i still think Mao's grocery list would be more appropriate for your school motto... somehow "are we there yet?" seems like a better parody of ACSI motto :P Dribdrab 12:43, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Agreed on the motto part. It isn't exactly one of our favourite sections either. Why don't you do it if you feel up to it? And why don't you drop a hint on who you are if you know who Mafuyu is? Aeolius 14:48, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

i'm thinking, i'm thinking... it seems a shame to delete 3 paragraphs on mayans and jimmy hendrix and replace it with "mao's grocery list fullstop". anyway if mafuyu is who i think he is i used to be from his primary school.Dribdrab 05:01, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
hey just curious, what's/who's this Shindig Coitus that i see everywhere? some new national hero, an aspiring Chuck norris, Mao's new nickname or what? =\

Dribdrab 14:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Another member of the noble community of walrii, cleverly disguised with a toupee to resemble a taxidermist or three. --Mafuyu 17:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
talk about injokes... *grumble* Dribdrab 07:46, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

no injoke. Purely random name made by a dictionary and coinflips. --Mafuyu 11:08, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah. If you must know, we used Shindig Coitus to mass remove Mao Zedong from the original article. Aeolius 15:08, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

erm just for info- there's really a teacher ny the nickname of Maumu and this is noe by most HCInpcc cadet- from an arse hole in hcinpcc

I think the whole of iSpark knows who maumu is too... --iSparkian

Hey... Can someone put the old school crest up again? THAT's funny. the one with the dung.

You bunch of evil fiends editing this evil webpage. Your evil will not be tolerated!

[edit] Semiprotection

Kei will probably kill me for this, but I have now semiprotected this page. I am getting sick and tired of reverting idiots who think "thus and so is gay" is funny (for various definitions of "thus and so," including the entire school). Thus, if you do not have an account, you aren't going to be editing this anytime soon. Get your arse an account (top right corner of the page, where it says "log in/create account") and wait three days. Thank you and have a nice day. —Hinoa talk.kun 17:38, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
