Tielen

Tielen is a village in the northern regions of Belgium.
It's a small village with approximatily 3600 imaginative inhabitants and 3 Dutch scientists who are researching whether there really is a factory called 'ijsboerke' (translated as ice farmer)that makes ice cream or whether it's just a farmer claiming to grow ice cream in his backyard. According to the Studio 100 mayor, Piet Piraat, the factory is existant, but mayor Piet may as well be just imaginative.
This village is not to be confused with Tienen, the town of sugar. Because Tielen is a much older village, the town of Tienen has been accused of using a very simular name and had to pay over 3 billion french fries to Tielen, making this the richest village in its region.
The villagers of Tielen (if there are any) have been facing huge problems. The village is surrounded by two rivers, the Eufrates and the Donau, making it impossible to leave or enter the village since the only bridge to town collapsed during the great earthquake of 2004.
Some believe that due to the earthquake, all of the villagers and the three Dutch scientists died, making Tielen the largest ghost town in Belgium.
In the 17th century, Tielen was under attack. The Bulgarian prince regent wanted to marry Lady Deurmat and he wanted to take her with him, but the inhabitants of Tielen refused him taking their lady with him. They were so fond of her that they managed to kill more than 30.000 Bulgarians from the prince regent's troops. The prince stopped his attack after 2 years and went back home to marry his sister.
The pride of this village is its traditions. A children's game called 'Kill the rabbit', which is played every year. A game for the entire family called 'Kill the Hungarians' which is played every time a bus of Hungarians stops in the village. A game for the retired called 'Kill the Tienians' which is played every time a bus of retired people of Tielen goes to Tienen. And a game called 'Kill everyone' which they plan to play every thousand years starting in 2009.
