Town

Town is located in southeast State, deep in the primary farming region of Country.
[edit] History
Founded in 1823 by A. Person, Town was for many years a outpost for traders and trappers on the edge of the Frontier. In 1850, large gold and silver deposits were discovered in the adjoining Territory, and Town ballooned to a population of nearly 80,000, many of them whores, gamblers, reprobates and vagabond scalliwags hoping to empty the pockets of an unwary prospector. Executives from the Railroad Company negotiated with Town for the construction of a large depot and yard which would handle the increased traffic. Unfortunately for Town, the nearby City was selected for the yard.
As the large migration died down, many stayed in Town and set to work clearing the land and starting small farms. So Town was able to shift its economic base from whoredom and gambling to local agriculture.

[edit] New Prospects
The future looks bright for Town, as urban sprawl from City has begun to affect Town. Over the past few years, retirees from City have been purchasing tracts of land for retirement homes. As a result, property prices have increased, and many long-term residents are themselves making highly profitable deals for their land, allowing them to retire.
Big box department stores have also been trying to buy up land for a new store, claiming that most people won't drive five minutes to the closest one. Town residents are eager to sell the land at a huge profit, then organize protests to stop the stores from being built.
