Turjuan is a small country in the middle of Iceland. It was declared to be independent in the year 1998 by the great leader Tursas (it is probably his surname), who is said to be the dictator of Turjuan. Since there is only one TV channel and one radio station in the whole country, the rest of the world knows very little about Turjuan.

What we do know is that Turjuan has been fighting against the army of Iceland since the 90's, but the Icelandic government has been totally quiet about it. Since the government finds it embarrassing that the troops of Iceland have lost several battles to Turjuan, they even claim that Iceland has no army at all.

It seems like the people of Iceland don't like the fact that some kind of a questionable country has appeared inside Iceland's borders and they are trying to forget that Turjuan is there. So when you ask someone who is from Iceland: "What do you think about Turjuan?" he or she probably answers: "What Turjuan? Is it a delicious thing?"

The capital of Turjuan is also called Turjuan. In fact, these two areas are pretty much the same. The currency of Turjuan is Turjuan's mark. One Turjuan's mark is 0,0000084 euros. This causes that if one wants to buy something with cash in Turjuan, it is recommended to get a lorry first to transport the money.

The citizens of Turjuan exercise a lot, because there is usually nothing else to do. Neither newspapers nor magazines can be published in Turjuan due to the lack of woods and paper, so people have absolutely nothing to read. (Well, in 2005 one Christmas card was sent to Turjuan and the people of the country have gathered every now and then to read it ever since, but that is just a curiosity.) No one wastes time by watching TV either. The one and only TV channel of Turjuan, TursoTV, is a project of one man, so the quality of the programs shouldn't be difficult to guess. Who wants to see a quiz with just one competitor - and he is the host of the show!

Otherwise the culture of Turjuan is quite poor. Only one museum is located in the whole country, and most local people say that it is too partial for them. The reason is that The Central Museum of Turjuan concentrates on the achievements of the leader Tursas.

There are two official languages in Turjuan: Turjuan and Finnish. Why on Earth Finnish? Nobody knows. Nobody cares.
