Articles that require maintenance or deletion are currently organized into three types with different procedures for each type. Note that these guidelines are not a significant change from current practice at the time of this update. Procedures are as follows:
Contents |
Uncyclopedia:QuickVFD
- Examples:
- Vandalism
- One-liners
- Clear Vanity
- Opaque Sloth
- Plagiarism
- Unneeded Redirects
- Mistakenly Created Pages
- Recreated Articles
- Deletion Procedure:
- Admins may delete these articles on sight
- Users should place a link to the article in QVFD under the correct date heading. Include explanation as needed
- Exceptions:
I See You!: The Insensitive Care Unit A.K.A. No Redeeming Value
- Examples:
- One or two paragraph articles
- Articles too incoherent to be good
- Articles too messy to have net value
- Articles that will never be good unless the original author finishes them
- Borderline QVFD articles
- Deletion Procedure:
- place the
{{ICU|~~~~~|fix=your message here}}template on the article. - once the article has gone a week without an edit, an admin will examine the page and decide whether to keep or delete it
- The admin should check the pages contents, history after tagging and the identity of the original tagger.
- place the
- Exceptions:
- Older articles should not have ICU or NRV placed on them. Give these pages a maintenance tag, or send them to VFD.
- Articles that are insubstantial but acceptable for another reason should be marked as stubs. Examples include:
- Stubs that are part of a series
- Stubs that are linked to from a common template
- Stubs that support another article but which are not mergable
Articles of Low (but not damningly low) Quality
- Examples:
- Older articles that are low quality
- Articles that are not embarrassingly rough, but still should be improved
- Popular Articles that have become crudded up over time
- Articles that have a great core idea but bad execution
- Maintenance Procedure
- Pages that are on important topics that should have a significant entry should be marked with {{rewrite}}
- Pages that other authors are likely to be very interested in contributing to should be marked with {{rewrite}}
- All other pages should be marked with an appropriate maintenance tag. These include:
- {{Fix}} - rewrite tag for less notable pages or naturally single author pages
- {{Ugly}} - tag for pages that need work on their formatting
- {{Deadend}} - tag for pages without links
- {{Expansion}} - tag for pages that need more substance
- Note: Expansion is not ICU/NRV. New pages should be marked with expansion only if they are already high enough quality that they want improvement, not need it.
- Pages marked with a maintenance tag are reviewed by an admin after a month without edits. They may be deleted at admin disgression.
- Exceptions:
- Featured articles that need work are always marked with rewrite instead of fix even if they are about less notable topics.
VFD - the fourth category in the trilogy
- In a perfect world we wouldn't need VFD. You could just use one of the previous procedures. Sometimes things aren't perfect and to resolve that ambiguity we need democracy. This is where VFD comes in. Use VFD sparingly and if you are in doubt just tag using a less aggressive procedure that you think might be appropriate.
- Procedure
- Exceptions:
- Articles which are less than a week old. In these cases, please consider using approprite maintenance templates such as {{ICU}}. Other exceptions include articles under construction or being peer reviewed.
