THE PARENTS OF MISSING MADELEINE McCANN believe their daughter may have been found sooner had a system of ropes and pullies been in place. Kate and Gerry McCann have appealed to the European Parliament to improve co-ordination between countries for installing a series of systems of ropes and pullies, "supplemented by cross-border cogs and wheels".

They said a system of ropes, pullies , cogs and wheels has already been proven to work in the United States where many children have been recovered, and in France where five children have been located using their own centralised system of levers, ropes, pullies, cogs, wheels and steam powered pistons.

Mrs McCann described the system as a "distributed network of ropes, pullies and levers which would eventually be supported by sets of wheels and cogs that would be utilised across national jurisdictions."

"The concept is quite simple in that time is the enemy in the case of a missing child and the goal is to instantly utilise a system of ropes and pullies to assist in the search for and safe recovery of that child," she said. Mr McCann emphasised that the system of ropes and pullies should be used only in conjunction with the use of "an established network of pedal powered conveyor belts".
