Template:QuotesPages

Advertising that we make up quotes is amusing once, (and horribly abused now) but killing the joke on every other page. Beat as this template beats our quote-creation-humor like a dead horse. Bone_F_clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 01:18, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, kill it. --Cap'n Sir Ben GUN WotM VFH VFP 13:06, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Keep I created it. It's simply there to link the "Making up quotes" pages together. If your reason for wanting to delete this is that you don't like the making up quotes pages, then put them all on VFD. This template replaced long lists of "See Also" and "Related Articles" links on lots of pages in the "Making up quotes" series. I don't think that having the articles designated for the making up of quotes has that much to do with there being too many quotes on other pages.
I think moving alot of the crappy quotes off of actual non-"Making up quotes" articles to "Making up quotes" pages would be a better solution. Perhaps an even better idea than that would be to start an UnQuote, similar to UnDictionary, to spoof Wikiquote and move all the content of the "Making up quotes" pages there. --Nerd42 19:55, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Now I know we don't get along, and I don't want to seem like a softie or say anything positive about you, but that's one damn good idea. I mean, if someone else had come up with it. For adding yet another useles appendage to Uncyclopedia, and moving all the "making up quotes" stuff to Uncyclopedia:QuoteUnquote. I'm going to hack a page up there now, since I'm feeling ambitious. KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! - --Steve "Heeeere's Johnny" Ballmer 20:20, 6 Dec 2005 (UTC)

(offtopic flamefest moved to User talk:JohnnyRaven Bone_F_clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 01:16, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC))

Kill: I'm opposed to the template because it tends to dominate the pages it's on and makes them look lower quality. In fact, for that matter, I'm in favor of fewer templates in general (but that's neither here nor now). --Sir gwax (talk) Image:Signuke.gif » Image:Icons-flag-us.png Major KUN UotM FH++ F@H CM GD NS Bur. +S 30px-Sucrose_b.gif 13:37, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I've just moved it off all the main article pages, leaving a single wiki link to the related making up quotes pages. The template still exists on the making up quotes pages and it stays that way, it might be ok to leave it be. However, if it makes it back onto any of the main article pages, I will go back to being pro-nukes. --Sir gwax (talk) Image:Signuke.gif » Image:Icons-flag-us.png Major KUN UotM FH++ F@H CM GD NS Bur. +S 30px-Sucrose_b.gif 18:11, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Organize Dominating the pages -- Unfortunately true. Could that be fixed by redesigning the template to be smaller? I think it would be good if this particular series of pages was very organized, (I am making no statements about the site in general here) so that people could easily navigate between the different people. --Nerd42 15:50, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I have changed the format of the template so that (hopefully) it is less threatening. Take a look. --Nerd42 16:20, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)

It's still huge, so even though it's a little sleeker, the problem still exists. I think that there's a good solution to this whole issue, namely put the template on making up quotes pages but not articles about things that are quoted. On the article about the quotee, a single line can be used, as in See Also -> Making up somebody or other quotes. This way, the interlinking will be preserved and there will be no page domination as only a single line will be used. I'm going to go about so implementing and then I'm going to change my vote. --Sir gwax (talk) Image:Signuke.gif » Image:Icons-flag-us.png Major KUN UotM FH++ F@H CM GD NS Bur. +S 30px-Sucrose_b.gif 17:36, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)

OK then. I'm happy with this. I think the Uncyclopedia has now been made better. :) You might want, however, to make sure the biography articles are all still categorized as Category:People for whom Quotes are Made up. --Nerd42 18:19, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I went and did that .... so, uh, what do you think now, Famine and Cap'n Ben? --Nerd42 21:16, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)
1 - it's unnecessary, since people wanting to go from one making up quotes page to another can just go via Catergory:People for wom quotes are made up. 2 - It's still horribly large and unweildy. 3 - Don't be a drama queen. I could understand you getting upset if we talking about huffing some long article that you put a lot of thought and effort into; we're talking about a template. Just get over it. --Cap'n Sir Ben GUN WotM VFH VFP 22:55, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)
I'm not upset. :) The trouble with Category:People for whom Quotes are Made up is that very few people would know that -- who's going to click a category -- especially if it's only one of the fifteen-or-so categories the article is in -- whereas if there's a list of links there to the other "Making up quotes" pages, it becomes much easier to navigate, and people realize there are other pages out there besides Making up Oscar Wilde quotes. --Nerd42 23:39, 7 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Nerd, you still miss the entire fucking point - why are we advertising that the quotes are made up? They are not made up. They are true. 112% true. Mislableing them is inappropriate and irresponsible. Not to mention that lots of people click on categories, based on the amount of reverts I have to do to category pages.
Check out Wikiquote so you can help me parody it well at Uncyclopedia:QuoteUnquote. The quotes are real, and we need to make sure that we tell people that. Let us leave behind the silliness of Uncyclopedia and create something which will benefit the world. Bone_F_clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 00:06, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Wow! Uncyclopedia:QuoteUnquote looks awesome! but wouldn't it be better/easier to just call it UnQuote? Like UnDictionary? --Nerd42 00:35, 8 Dec 2005 (UTC)

So ... I'm assuming this template will eventually be replaced by something QuoteUnquoteish ... till then it will stay then ... right? or is this vote still going on or what? --Nerd42 22:11, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I'm confused, can we just vote to delete the entirety of the Undictionary? If so, than I say kill the whole damned thing! By definition, the Undictionary can be nothing more than a collection of one-liners. That's great if you're Ambrose Bierce, but there's a really good chance it doesn't work if your name consists of a random string of dot-delimited numbers, each one <= 255. Since Uncyclopedia Is Not Wikipedia, who cares if we have a few (or more than a few) sub-stubs in the main article space? I'd rather have an article space with a bunch of funny substubs, than an Undictionary full of unfunny one-liners. Damn, I've wanted to get that off my chest for a while. -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? As a member of VFUDD I say kill it baby! If it makes you laugh even just a little then it's qualifies for Uncyclopedia. People can expand it or not as long as it's funny. When I came across Laos it was one line that said, "A beautiful southeast asian country that anglocentric Americans should learn more about" (Which was actually a decent one liner). Of course I killed it to add 6 pages of crap, but that's irrevelant. I learned the hard way to add pictures and at least three lines in order to keep the UnDictionary Nazis away from my stuff. Coprolites (Fossilized Crap)

Taking a look at Special:Ancientpages turned up an interesting web (heh) (you'll get it later) of stories that I think are ripe for the huffing.

I'd like to KILL THEM ALL!!!1``1!! um, sorry, I mean I would like to suggest their removal as part of a healthy hygeine regimen. I don't think their author will mind, as he hasn't come to visit since April. -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? [rox!|sux!] Prince%21.gif 23:22, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Keep. I think it's incredibly hilarious.
However. If a lot of people don't understand the joke and we have to compromise it, I think if we somehow make a reference to game systems it would work better. (GameCube, GameBoy, PlayStation, XBox) Especially since Uncyclopedia's visitor profile pretty much matches gamers. (Dudes, adolescent to early twenties, it's so true.) --neoEva88 20:19, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)
One week later, two people like it and nobody else cares. I'll put the references to this template back into those pages. Juan Kerr 12:29, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

The Real Truth About the Brazilian Political Crisis of 2005

Template:Wtf It's too long for QVFD, but too pointless to keep IMHO. Or do we keep it and add an appropriate "wtf" template? Obviously, though, {{wtf}} isn't the appropriate "wtf". wtf is? -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? [rox!|sux!] Prince%21.gif 20:12, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)

... (Actually it is a joke about the mindless - or is it? - concoctment of pseudofacts by mainstream brazilian media, but if you wish to delete it, feel free...) Greetings

Well, that's not a vote, technically, even if you did sign it. Man, I want to KILL (sorry), but the article is *so* long. Can anyone find a way to patch it into Brazil? Or should it just go home with the kittens? -- Sir BobBobBob ! S ? [rox!|sux!] Prince%21.gif 20:13, 7 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Febrewery and various other fake months

Has gotten out of hand. I have taken measures to attempt to return the teh funnay to Template:Months. I suggest any months not there be merged or deleted. General Specific 15:52, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)

All the above are one-liner stubs that would have been deleted long ago if not for the 23 months template.

Delete I could probably safely delete these, but I might as well leave it open for voting. --—rc (t) 04:02, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Merge into one article. They're all one-liners, seems to me like the content should all be combined into some sort of list article. Like, "List of the 13 Months" or something. Alas, I am at school now, but maybe I'll do it later. --neoEva88 20:35, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Merge into one article' - I like that idea better. --Paulgb 20:44, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Okay, so, here's what I've done so far. I created the Wildean Calendar as a sort of repository for one-liner/stub month articles. I've added most of the months of the month template, however, there are more months that need to be added. The article is in need of a lot of help. The other thing I have noticed is that the articles for actually months seem about as shitty as some of the stubs for made-up months, in some cases they're even worse. So, I propose a Month-Project similar too of Sarducci's Jesii Project. IMO the deletion discussion is over, and so I plan on starting a discussion section for the months in the Village Dump. --neoEva88 23:05, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Kept per neoEva.

Febtober

Delete. This is one of the made-up months I have been working with. The article is a one-liner stub that I don't believe is funny enough to be merged into the Wildean Calendar with the other one-liner months being put in there. --neoEva88 01:34, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Buckethead

This article says almost nothing original (try checking out the official website, Welcome To Bucketheadland, and you'll see what I mean) and furthermore the very few original bits are not very funny. The topic itself has some great potential, but it's not being used here. I would support a rewrite. --Zwabaphone 05:07, 28 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Delete If you know who busket head is this is not funny, if you dont it is only marginaly funny. Burn it to the ground! Illogicalbeats 19:29, 28 Oct 2005 (UTC)
