[edit] HOLY CRAP IT WORKED

Yeah. I was watching RC and rooting for you all along. Congrats!  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • bloggings) Quote of the Day 18:30 Oct 21, 2007

Yeah, I had some code that added a bunch of search tabs (for Wikipedia, Google, etc) and it was somehow blocking the QVFD tab from showing up. Thanks, I'm glad I got this going, too. Now perhaps I can contribute a bit more... --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 18:35, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Dear oh holy experienced user (who i am kissing up to right now,

I am a new user and I want to see how I am doing. May you look at the Lord of the Rings Page and look at the section Lord of the Blings: The Real Story, and give me constructive critisism on my discussion page? Thank you so much oh noble one!

[edit] Your sig

I saw you reverted my subst: on the forum post. Just so you know, it was causing some kind of funky error with an unclosed <<span>. I couldn't pin it down, and the subst: with an extra </span> seemed to do the trick. I just poked at your sig code, and it makes my head hurt. Of course, mine is pretty ugly, too     EugeneKay wuz here (whine thank unblog)   02:37, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I got it figured out eventually. I would have figured it out right after I saved it, but I ran out of time and had to go somewhere. Turns out I was missing two <span>s. I hope the revert wasn't a problem; I just wanted to clear it up for you guys. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 02:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Welcome

Why'd you remove the substs? They're there so that the username remains subst'ed in, so when they archive it, it doesn't say something like "Hello User:Dr. Skullthumper/archive 1, and welcome to Uncyclopedia!"  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • bloggings) Quote of the Day 19:11 Nov 10, 2007

Because I was browsing through user talk pages and I found one where someone had just used {{welcome}}, and it started as "Welcome, {{PAGENAME}}," instead of displaying their actual name. The same went for their contribs link. So I figured there was a problem with the substs, and when I removed them and refreshed the talk page, it was normal. So... /me shrugs --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 19:15, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Here I am with a response a few days late: They forgot to subst the bleedin' template. But I don't think it matters either way now, really...  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • bloggings) Quote of the Day 23:00 Nov 13, 2007

[edit] Welcoming Users

Am I doing a better job at welcoming users now? -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 16:42, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, sir. My one recommendation would be that you put something in the edit summary- "Welcome!" or "Welcome to Uncyclopedia." or something. Otherwise it shows up as "Created page with '{{subst:welcome}}--~~~~'." --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 16:44, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Will do from now on :) -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 16:45, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Good man. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 16:45, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Is there a page that lists all the new users? That would make it a lot easier than having to whore the recent changes page. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 16:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Special:Listusers. But I'd just watch RC, because most of the users on that list are inactive and sorting through the list would be a dick. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 16:47, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

It's supposed to give you tons of nifty little things. Like an auto-QVFD script so you can automatically add an article to QVFD. Also, it highlights various aspects of Recent Changes, including the talk pages of users who haven't been welcomed, making it easier to spot someone who needs to be welcomed. Can't imagine how it froze you up, though. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 17:13, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I tried it again, and it froze me up again....now, I just want to page to get huffed :) -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw it on QVFD. I still think that's weird... but if you think you can get along without it, more power to ya. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 17:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I'll try it again when I get home, maybe... -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:24, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Ever since I tried doing that thing you gave me, the recent changes has been freezing my cpu that I'm using as well...not cool :) -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry... I've never heard of .js freezing a browser. Maybe it's your computer? --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 17:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I got that page huffed because of it's tendancy to freeze my cpu. -Razorflame (contributions) Talk 17:44, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: RE: Sig Changes

Yeah, In my sig I use five tildes to give you only the time and date, then you can apply formatting to that as you like. Then because the sig includes the time and date, you only sign with three tildes, so it doesn't get added twice as I mentioned above. I'm not sure if this is how others do it, but it seems to work. -- Image:smallbeer.pngSpillin DylanImage:smallbeer.pngTALKImage:smallbeer.pngEDITSImage:smallbeer2.png

Something still isn't quite right, though. My date and time don't seem to update; look at the difference between these two posts that were 5 minutes apart. Back to the drawing board.... -- Image:smallbeer.pngSpillin DylanImage:smallbeer.pngTALKImage:smallbeer.pngEDITSImage:smallbeer2.png
If I were you I would just sign with four tildes, and remove the timestamp from your signature code, until you find a way to make the timestamp small. I know there's a way to do it, because I've seen it before, but I'm not sure what it is. I say just keep browsing the wiki as normal, and take the time to look at peoples' sigs. If you see someone with a sig that has a small timestamp, contact them and ask them how it's done. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 18:10, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hoping for some help...

Hello again! Hope you are well... I have a few questions that I was hoping you would be good enough to answer...

I have now written a few articles as referenced from my user page:

Moving the goal posts, Project Manager and Pointless Paradox

I think Moving the goal posts is probably the best I have done and that the others are a bit lame and am trying to improve them both myself and by increasing the "exposure" that they get in the uncylopedia. Like everyone (I guess) I think it would be nice to have people read what I have done, and hopefully add to and improve it. It's kinda obvious that unless it's linked to from other pages no one is very likely to find it...

I know about the Pee review, and will pluck up the currage to try it soon. Obviously I could add a link to various categories hoping that someone will fing it when browsing through but which ones? For example [[Moving the goal posts] could be added to Buisness, which I have, but it could also be added to pratically all of the other sub-categories below it. Some of these have sub-categories, which have sub-categories and so on. Whats normally done about this? Just try to trawl down the sub-category list to find the single most relavant category or should I put it in lots of places? Also there are other categories (not under Business) which Moving the goal posts could be argued to be related to e.g sports, hobbies etc... Whats the norm with categorys?

I guess I could also increase the chances of someone finding my work by adding links to it on various other articles related to the subjet. I'm wondering what's considered normal here and what would be considered spamming? Obviously any links would need to be relavant (and hopefully funny), but again i'm wondering what is considered the norm.

I think I'm getting the hang of using sandboxes, but have a few questions about them. I take it that if I save something under one of my user pages it does not bother anyone by showing up on "recent changes"? How do I get a list of what sub-pages I have under my user page (for when I forget)?

If I have the construction tag on an article does this reduce the chances that it will be edited by another user?

Any guidance one the above (and obviously any criticism of what I have done) would be very welcome. Especially if you fancied looking at Pointless Paradox I think I might be on dodgy ground on this one! If your not into reviewing that's cool, I will just take it to the Pee review and wait for my assassination! Thanks in advance MrN Image:Icons-flag-gb.png HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png 21:19, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You!

Props to you Andorin Kato for keeping an eye on the Metallica page. It's good to see someones taking a stance against the vandals. Cheers! --NewReference 01:36, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Who's taking the piss?

Hi, your faithfull N00b here again... Ok, not a huge list of questions this time you will be pleased to know! Just thought you might like to know that I have just put in for my first pee-review... Please feel free to extract as necessary! MrN Image:Icons-flag-gb.png HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png 04:05, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Now that you've submitted the Pee Review, all you've got to do is wait. Someone will get to it eventually. In my experience, Cajek gives really good pee reviews and watches the list of articles to review the new ones. So my advice is to just watch your Pee Review entry and wait for Cajek, or someone else, to get to it. And in case you're thinking of it, don't try posting a request on his talk page about it; just be patient and you'll get reviewed soon. :) --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 04:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Cool... I can do that... :) Was wondering what the N means to the left of some of the things waiting to be reviewed? Mine Moving the goal posts does not have a N, but most of the others seem to... I'm also trying to get something from my namespace deleted, but it's still there after 2 days. Any chance you could have a look and see if I have marked it correctly? - User:MrN9000/Pointless_Paradox Is this how I should mark a page created by a vandle? It's almost 5 in the morning here! Maybe I should go to bed! Your being so helpful, is there anything I can do for ya by way of thanks? Have fun. ;) MrN Image:Icons-flag-gb.png HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png 04:50, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
The "N" means there's been an edit to the Pee Review page since you last viewed it. Also, if you ever want a page in your userspace to be deleted, then you can do one of two things: tell me, or go to Uncyclopedia:QuickVFD, edit the section of the current day, add your page to the top of the list (make sure you put a space in front of the link, so that QVFD maintains its box-like state), and put something like "-user request" after the link so the deleting admin knows that it's okay to delete the page. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 04:54, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey, cheers!

re: yer n00b-welcome: Thanks. I'll be sure to ask if I have any questions. I be RTing the FM right now. I've been an anonymous pedant, going round changing "it's" to "its" like the orthography-fascist I am, so I thought I'd sign up. --WhatAJoyDivine 06:22, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, good work. Signing up is the first step down a long and illustrious Uncyclopedia career. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 06:22, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, my idea didn't work anyway- the pages use {{disambig}}, so adding characters to the template doesn't change the size of the article. --Sir Andorin Kato CUN and Bombad General [This] [That] [The baseball bat] 02:52, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
