Where has this popped from? ~ 22:38, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Where has what popped from? My AWOL message? Long story, I was just about to remove it. I felt that after the events on VFD yesterday I needed to take a bit of time out, but after discussions on IRC last night I feel much better about things. Thanks for wondering though! :) ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 10:42, 03 August 2007
- I thought it was because of the VFD business. I had that feeling for a few days now, so I did something I do every time I lose my temper here, I read one of the site's finest. So today I read Protect and Survive and the reading alongside with the audio made me laugh so hard I got my spirits up :). And for the record, I shall never address you as honey ~
22:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well thanks, I appreciate you stopping by to check on me :) You are more than welcome to address me as such, but the person on VFD is not, as they meant it in a very derogatory way, which I did not appreciate. Thats sage advise to read one of the site's better articles to help me remember why I'm still here, thanks :) I'll be sure to do that. /bighugs <3 ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 11:01, 03 August 2007

[edit] Hiya
Well, I just happened to come across this (thanks to Severian for linking me in IRC), and I just wanted to say that I share your....insult....at it. While you certainly received the brunt end of this rant, I got my first bona-fide insult for being 14. Rest assured that you are certainly neither a prude nor a bitch, and let us never speak of this again. Unless you happen to respond to this, in which case we shall.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 14:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Aww :( I'm sorry you had to see that. If it helps, I think we should feel good about the fact that we were insulted in the service of the site. We stood up against an article which was not up to the site's high standard (all smut aside, the article still failed in a literary sense) and had to endure more mud-slinging for it. You've beared up brilliantly through it, your comments have been nothing but mature, while its taken all my willpower and a lot of help from Spang on IRC to restrain me from giving her a piece of my mind, and I'm glad now that I haven't responded to her. All we can hope now is that we can forget all about it, and that if her ban is lifted early that she learns something from the whole experience and can become a valuable contributor to the site who can get on with others, even those who, God forbid, don't like your writing.
- Maybe you can give her some tips on accepting against votes with grace, and console her that I didn't like vote for some of your articles either :P

[edit] Lounge shortcut
Just noticed the arrival of the UN:Poop shortcut - thanks for that (I think...!) By the way, while I'm here, I keep meaning to say: don't let one person put you off listing on VFD. Not everyone gets that uptight about a nomination, after all. I think you just unfairly bore the brunt of anger that should have been directed at all of us who voted (or no-one, if said person had been a bit more mature about it). It's tricky when you're generally nice - you'll feel it even more when you get to admin stage (and I'm pretty sure you'll end up there eventually!) and have to steel yourself to huffing some things on about 2 seconds consideration because you haven't the time to read everything. But anyway, enough about me - I can't complain... I didn't exactly argue when I was nommed! -- Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 00:22, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

UN:Poop is much faster than User:Strange but untrue/Poops...ack I give up! see! As for adminship I think I'm pretty happy staying a pleb forever for 2 reasons, 1. I can't give the site much of my time as it is (usually I do VFD in bursts, when I'm stuck in a boring class at tech :P ) and 2. I have trouble not overreacting, and I let things get to me personally, as I think everyone witnessed in the recent debacle. If I showed even a modicum of restraint, it was only thanks to Spang coaching me on IRC lol. I'd love to do the burnination part (QVFD, ICU etc) since I'm such a "deletionist" but I think it would probably not be safe to entrust a banstick to me ;P Perhaps in 20 or so years if I ever learn to master my anger. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 01:24, 09 August 2007

[edit] Proofreading service application form
Good morning/evening/afternoon/night (delete according to preference/religion and hemisphere) Ceridwyn.
I'd like to sign up to the elite cadre of lexicographer-ninjas known as the proofreading service. However, heedful of your warning on the service's home page regarding thoroughly checking all work, I thought I'd get you to check something I checked before I join, if you follow me. Have a look at Emboldened_stupidity, which I've just given a thrice-over, and see if you think I missed anything (other than the quality of the article, which is the job of the Pee Review, right?) I've not marked it as proofread yet, in case it doesn't measure up to the high standards of the service!
Furthermore: is the job of the service just to check for spelling and grammar problems, or does the remit extend to include the re-working of clumsy sentences into something more pleasing to behold?
And finally, confirming my status as a bit of a pedant: the word "mispelt" on the service homepage - should that not read "mis-spelled"? Or possibly "mis-spelt"? I've come across both, but "mispelt" is generally held up as a bad thing wherever I've encountered it. Oh man, I really need to get out more. Shame it's raining... --Sir Under User (Hi, How Are You?) VFH KUN 13:29, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, for starters the fact that you were concerned enough to post here pretty much signals that you care enough to do a decent job. Thats all I want. People were just signing up and then never actually proofreading anything. People like to "belong" to groups around here sometimes without contributing. Hence the spring clean. I'm sure you proofread well, and yes please re-work clumsy sentences etc. As for mispelt yes that should be misspelt. I nor anyone else is infallible. Feel free to correct it. I usually use www.dictionary.com when I'm not sure about things. Just check for regional variations on spelling. The general rule of thumb is: If its an American article, by an American author or about an American thing, use American spelling consistently. Vice versa for British articles, authors or subjects!
- In short, feel free to sign yourself up and knock yourself out spell checking things! Good luck grasshopper! ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 04:20, 24 August 2007

- Nerdism is not one unified block that varies only in a single nerd variable. Rather, it's a stratified and mixed group of smaller groups; a Ven diagram of overlapping nerdness with many groups overlapping many other groups, while each set completely avoids touching still more groups. A loose coalition of enormous checkerboardian proportions, as it were. Few nerds, in other words, exist as a single colour, just as a single group of nerds varies in more than just their collective nerd colour saturation. - I am good. By "good" I mean "not really paying attention". I think that's for the best. Et vous? Sir Modusoperandi 13:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Heh pictures would get VERY borderline :P
- Not paying attention to what precisely? ^_^ Good to hear from you anyway!
- I'm very well thank you :) Just a bit preoccupied with other internet sectors :P ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 09:04, 12 October 2007

- I find that things are simpler when you don't pay attention. Traffic lights, shoelace tying, brain surgery...all greatly improved by not paying attention. There are other internet sectors? Sir Modusoperandi 16:44, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] LOLProofreading
The service seems to be a bit offline, and according to our esteem Mr. OEJ, this needs some tender loving. Do you mind? ~ 22:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah thats probably my fault, I've been AWOL (still am) for a while now. But just for you, I'll come out of retirement for this one ;) ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 09:58, 20 October 2007

- Hasn't* been as pink recently ;P Busy? Sort of, I guess busy but not necessarily with important things :P 1. I play too much WoW 2. My education provider charges way too much for internet use, so I tend to avoid Uncyc because it loads slowish and generally leads to many pages being opened somewhat obsessively which I can't afford. Also it wasted too much of my class time so I just sort of stopped visiting I guess. I was tired after the whole Dirty Potter fiasco too. I still pop in once in a while to visit friends ^_^ I do intend to proofread your article soonish, just finishing assignments atm though. <3 ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 12:09, 22 October 2007
