Welcome to my talk page! I am Sir gwax and this is the best place, outside of pubs, for conversations with me, related to Uncyclopedia or otherwise. Being a civilized individual, I will attempt to provide you with useful and insightful responses as soon as possible. While you are here, I ask that you remain reasonable and civil as I have relatively little patience for unpleasantnesses. If you would like to peruse conversations of yore, please feel free to avail yourself of the talk archives. Thanks for stopping by. | |

[edit] Newbie help!
Was it because I did it anonymously? A piece I wrote on Nicholas Hilliard, lightly poking fun at Wikipedia in the style of Jordanhill Railway Station, was shamelessly deleted, apparently without trial. How can I avoid such injustice in the future? 76.29.63.95 18:54, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- The piece you wrote was incredibly short and more nonsensical than comedic. In short, time is funny, one liners are not. It can be very frustrating to show up and have your articles deleted but we try very hard to maintain a standard of quality. You really should read the Beginner's Guide before you delve into editing too deeply. Generally, I recommend reading the best of to get an idea of what is considered good around here then start editing and improving articles. After you manage to get a feel for what is suitable, then start writing your own articles. Stick with it, you're in exactly the same position that I and many other people have been in before. --Sir gwax (talk)

[edit] Vanity Article
Hi Gwax, you had helped me before with an article couple years back and because it was a vanity article it was labelled thus. My question is why was it removed? I understand that it was lack of Google hits and that you hadn't heard of the subject before? If at all possible could I have this userspace thing and then incorporate the article there? There were like sub pages with it, too. Like a "cast of characters" and because you had helped me as I was a newbie, I thought your contributions were funny and insightful. Nacky 08:29, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Nacky
Okay, I just looked and the article still exists, but in a mirror dimension...how's that work and can I post that link instead of the one it used to dwell at? I have to say that I was relieved it was all still there in its entirety and although you're hardly around, I put these questions here as you were the one who shifted it to the mirror site. How long does the mirror side last? Can I have that whole article in something else, maybe? Like whatever this userspace is? Nacky 08:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Nacky
- I have a vague recollection of what you're talking about but unless you give me some links or specific ways to find what it is that you're talking about, I'm really not going to be able to provide much help. Also, I really don't know what you mean by saying that your articles are in a "mirror dimension". I'll be more than happy to help you try to figure things out but you're going to have to be more precise about what you want done and with which articles. --Sir gwax (talk)

Hi Gwax, here's the article's new link http://mirror.uncyc.org/wiki/Smugkepe and I used the term "mirror demension" because I couldn't think of a better word. Mirror site, mirror link, mirror something. I was hoping the article could stay as I poured alot of work into it and you helped me with the connecting pages to it. What is this "userspace"? Is that just really my own profile and I can incorporate the article there? I mean if it stays in the mirror side then it's really not a problem. I just didn't want to see it go altogether.
I hope you're doing well. And so sorry I have been so scarce and have not contributed anything in a while. Nacky 23:40, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Nacky
- It has been restored and moved to your userspace at User:Nacky/Smugkepe. Vanity policies dictate that you cannot have personal pages that do not appeal to a general audience in the main namespace but you can keep whatever you want in your userspace. Don't apologize to me about being scarce; I've hardly done anything here in over a year. --Sir gwax (talk)

I was wondering if it will also stay up at the mirror site, as well? I hope it does...the link is shorter/more concise. And thank you for your help! It is appreciated. Nacky 03:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Nacky
- You're welcome. I know nothing about the mirror and cannot speak to matters involving it. --Sir gwax (talk)

[edit] Hey Gwax
In case no one bothered saying so, it's good having you around. In case someone did, it still is :P ~ 19:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
