Wet Hot American Summer
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.
Wet Hot American Summer is a comedic film released in 2001, directed by David Wain and co-written by Wain and friend Michael Showalter, who also starred in the film. It is widely regarded as one of the best films ever made, and holds the record for winning the most Academy Awards of any film in history, nabbing a win in every single category. Yes, including both screenpay categories. Get bent.
[edit] Plot
The movie takes place over the course of a single day, and that day is August 18th, 1981. It is the last day of summer camp at the non-ficticious Camp Firewood, and the film's many subplots revolves around the wacky characters in its ensemble cast, and the various obstacles they must overcome to save the day. Yay!!!
Dr. Niles Crane is in in love with the Bowler(Janeane Garofallupaguss), who is trying to deal with the pressures of directing the camp while attempting to foil the evil schemes of Casanova Frankenberry. Coop, one of the geeky counsellors, is in love with fellow counsellor Katie. Hormones rage and tempers flare as this motley crew of endearing underdogs must unite to save the camp from a falling piece of the SkyLab satellite which threatens to blow up the world and kill Will Ferrell and Napolean Dynamite. At the end of the film, a mutual decision is reached to let the two of them get blown up(in an impressive, high-budget special effect sequence), thus saving humanity from shitty Will Ferrell movies and "Vote For Pedro" T-Shirts. The camp celebrates by getting whacked out on goofballs(a.k.a. "s'mores").
[edit] Reception
A critical and commercial blockbuster Wet Hot American Summer was the highest grossing film of 2001, and received a coveted 108% on Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Ebert said that it was his favourite movie of all time and attempted suicide after realising there was no point going on, as he'd likely never see a better film. "Wet Hot", as it's come to be known by an unspecified group of people, is also notable of being the only film ever to be nominated for Best Picture twice in the same year. Russell Crowe was not happy, but A Beautiful Mind sucked balls, anyway, so screw him.
