Uncyclopedia is a wiki designed for amateur humor writers. We even have a guide to humor writing, with the tongue-in-cheek name of "How to be Funny and Not Just Stupid". By stupid, we mean unfunny jokes. Nobody likes to be told their jokes are unfunny, but without constructive criticism, it is impossible to learn and grow. We can help you learn how to write humorously, in a format designed to parody Wikipedia articles. Communication is essential in this process.
As a humor writing wiki, en.uncyclopedia.co features:
*A Discord channel to chat in real time
*A Facebook page
*An external link to Uncyclopedia merchandise (sometimes).
*Content for readers over age 18, including NSFW content. (Fake ID's accepted)
*In-jokes.
en.uncyclopedia.co is not affiliated with uncyclopedia.com - in fact they are not speaking to each other.
By the way, they also dislike the term "fork", although they left Wikia sooner than the other site in 2013. While they hate the cutlery reference, "fork" is a bit shorter than "uncyclopedia.co".
Also known as the spoon, uncyclopedia.ca is a humor-writing wiki that features:
*Content designed for readers over age 13, or readers in certain countries over age 16 with parental permission.
*Designed for intermediate humor writers. Ability to write single-page essays is strongly recommended.
*The satire writing of "Spike", "Romartus", and other featured writers.
*Longer satire articles and articles "designed for the general reader".
Uncyclopedia.com is not affiliated with en.uncyclopedia.co - in fact they are not speaking to each other. Uncyclopedia.ca frequently refers to themselves as "the spoon", and has no qualms about the term. They scooped up their content when they left Fandom.
In the beginning, there was just one humor wiki, hosted at www.uncyclopedia.org. Uncyclopedia was established in 2005 by writers known as "Chronarion" and "Stillwater". However, in a year or two, a decision was made to move their wiki to Wikicities, a wiki farm who would later rebrand as Wikia, then Fandom. Wikia would later redirect uncyclopedia.org to uncyclopedia.wikia.com.
In 2013, an IRC, a discussion was held about moving away from Wikia. Wikia had censored certain sexual content, and put up a content warning on the site. The decision was made on IRC chat to change their wiki host. Forum discussions about the decision followed. A few editors decided to stay at uncyclopedia.wikia.com, but many left for en.uncyclopedia.co.
In 2019, Fandom decided it would no longer host the wiki that was located at uncyclopedia.wikia.com. A vote was held to move to a sub-site on en.uncyclopedia.co. However, a discussion was held via the admin email list, and the majority of editors of uncyclopedia.ca changed their minds and the site was moved to a website hosted and maintained by an admin of uncyclopedia.ca rather than being hosted by en.uncyclopedia.co.
